Set on the outskirts of the small village Stokkseyri along the south coast of Iceland, lies this remarkable seaside vacation home. The Barn House is fully equipped and with the convenient size of 105m2, it hosts up to five people in three bedrooms. Only a 45 minutes drive from Reykjavik and well situated to explore many of the sights on the south coast and the Golden Circle area, the house is a peaceful base that gives you easy access to one of Iceland’s best regions.
The two-story house is designed by the Icelandic designer Rut Káradóttir and her husband Kristinn, who are also the owners of the property. The house exterior is clad with weathered Siberian larch and build in a modern barn house inspired style. The interiors are finished elegantly and comfortably with classic, light furnishings and modern design elements. The dark countertops and natural textiles play against a background branch-less plywood, reflecting a warm and beautifully harmonious atmosphere.
The ground floor entry houses a double bedroom, one single bedroom and a bathroom with shower. The second floor features another double bedroom and an open-plan living space with a fully equipped kitchen, dining table and cosy sitting area. From the living space there is direct access to a balcony overlooking the unobstructed views of the ocean and the lava coastline. Outside, the house offers access to a patio with a geothermal hot tub, barbecue facilities and a garden.

Coastal drives, fishing, geothermal hot pot hunting and hiking are great ways to experience Iceland. In the summer time Iceland has long hours of daylight – including the phenomenon known as the midnight sun. The dark winter provides great opportunity for spotting the Northern Lights.
